Excitement on Deck!

Excitement on Deck!

As I started up the gangway and looked at the ship that I would call home for the next 8 days, I was filled with excitement, anticipation and since I didn’t know anyone yet, a little trepidation.  Going through the lines waiting to board, there is somewhat of an excited carnival or pre-game atmosphere.  I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face wondering what awaited me throughout the next week.

20160128_105111After boarding the ship, I found my way to my stateroom, my first time having a balcony in my room.  I knew from the first time I stepped onto the deck of the balcony, this would be one of my favorite places to sit and meditate as I looked out over the ocean and contemplate my future.  Its worth the upgrade!

After meeting my room-mates who were delightful and very successful ladies, we headed downstairs to the meeting room for the initial meeting.  There were over 400 people from different places, levels of expertise and so many different markets, all of whom were so open and excited to be there.  Some of them had been on this mastermind cruise for several years…this was the 10th annual cruise.  As a totally new to this type of event person, and being naturally shy, it took me a little while to break into the conversations going on around me which were more like a camp or class reunion..lots of hugs and smiles all around.  Before I knew it though, 20160123_131621I was joining in the excitement and getting to know about my fellow marketers cruise passengers.

One of the really cool things about this was that the next morning we each were given 30-45 seconds to go on stage and introduce ourselves along with what we are hoping to learn or get out of the next week on board.  Most networking events I have been to, do not give you this kind of platform to allow others to be able to approach you to learn more about what you are doing.  This allows more of a give and take between participants and less feeling like you are pursuing or being pursued by an over zealous salesperson.  The thing I was most surprised and please about was how many people genuinely wanted to help each person grow.  Instead of whats in it for me…..the question was …..how can I serve you?

One of the things I have learned from the many20160123_130730 books I read about personal growth is to use the mastermind to increase your own capability more quickly.  This event with positive and like minded individuals is just the kind of event that will enhance your growth.  Making contacts and even more important new friends, made this event a success even before the 1st night was over.

Want to know more……. I will write more about the sessions and the incredible islands in the next few installments.  Have you been to a good event for marketers or personal development that you want to recommend…I want to hear all about it…leave a comment and maybe I will see you there some day.

My envy is replaced by the joy of knowing you had a great time plus I appreciate your sharing the great information that you learned. To me knowledge is not important unless you use it and/or share it. I’ll be on the lookout for more from you. 😉
